My girl turned 8 mo today. I’ve been using a schedule that combines what the doctor told me to do and what my daughter wants to do. Times aren’t set in stone….
7 am breastmilk (and nap)
10:30 breastmilk then cereal and fruit
noon breastmilk (and nap)
2:30pm breastmilk then cereal and veggies
4pm breastmilk and short nap
630pm breastmilk and cereal
830pm breastmilk and formula (4-6 oz as desired)
she sleeps through the night.
My doctor recommends feeding her 5 times a day, but because of milk supply issues, my daughter likes to nurse every couple hours. I want to keep the number of bottles to a minimum. How often you feed your child will depend on him or her. The cereal feedings are prescribed for morning, noon and evening. You could try giving those at roughly the same time every day, at a time when you know your child is usually hungry. If they want to nurse like half an hour before that you can either feed them early or try to get them to wait. it’s your call. Because of digestive issues, my girl is not allowed to start meat yet, so I guess they can go at the evening meal. I know the dr also said that she can have juice and teething toast at the noonish meal. hope this helps =)
