Yes. I diagnosed myself, then got myself to a doctor. You go to Wallmart, or some drug store, and you can buy a diabetic blood sugar tester and then the strips that go with it. You also need a lancing device to prick your finger with. Most of the units that tell how much sugar is in the blood have a lancing device in them too. You put the stick in the monitor, prick your finger, put the blood on the right place on the stick and up comes your sugar number in about 5 seconds.
Follow directions carefully. Wash hands before testing. Test before you eat in the morning, then two hours after lunch, then two hours after dinner for five or more days in a row. You’ll have a good sampling then from which to tell how your body is handling your sugars. Take these numbers to the doctor if they are too high - take your entire monitor in. It will be valuable in helping him decide the fastest way to treat you.
You are smart to get this information and fast. Diabetes damages all your organs and you don’t want to let it continue. Best of luck!
